Deb was born in St. Paul, but spent her formative years in Arlington, Texas. She returned to St. Paul to raise her kids. Her husband Ted, a psychologist, teaches adjunct at Metropolitan State University and Minneapolis Community and Technical College. Son Alex is a sophomore at Mankato State University in the B.F.A. program majoring in Musical Theater. Daughter Erika is a senior in high school and is active in music, cross country running, nordic skiing and soccer. Zelda is the family's grey miniature schnauzer who barks too much, but is a very nice little "dawgie." Deb holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Texas and a Master of Science in Experiential Education from Mankato State University. She is a licensed drug counselor and teaches at Metropolitan State University in the Human Services Department, Alcohol and Drug Counseling major. She also teaches adjunct at the U of M and MCTC. Her interests outside of work include music, especially 60s and 70s rock. Her definition of a good day is when she gets nine hours of sleep and doesn't have a morning deadline. She also enjoys spending time with her family, preferably in the summer at a lake!
