Hello, my name is Traci Yavas. I began working as an Information Services Specialist with Information Services Manager Patricia Post for the Minnesota Prevention Resource Center (MPRC) on March 11, 1998.
I received my Masters of Science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, School of Information Sciences. My studies emphasized information systems and technology, and I had the opportunity to teach Internet and World Wide Web skills to students and professors.
Upon graduation, I worked as a reference librarian in a public library just blocks from the Chattanooga Choo Choo. In addition to providing reference service, I was a member of the library's Web page development committee and I developed and maintained the social science and foreign language portions of the library's collection.
Last July I relocated to Minnesota, and have been happily adjusting to a very different (mosquitoes, tornadoes and the Mall of America!) life here. I am excited to be working at MPRC. I look forward to the challenge of learning a new subject and the experience of working with the MPRC team and the community it serves.
