Dear Colleagues,

We have been excited by the possibilities that the World Wide Web (WWW) offers in providing information efficiently and quickly to people throughout Minnesota. We have been challenged by unanticipated problems that we encountered as we made choices about how to design our homepage, which vendors to work with in developing the page, which communication technologies to select that would likely be most appropriate for an organization of our size and mission, and lastly, what is the most useful content to include in the site.

We intend to use our WWW site to provide accurate, up-to-date information about the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use problems.

We will include a Legislative update that will include timely information about public policy issues that affect prevention professionals and advocates. When appropriate, we will use our site to alert concerned persons about actions that might reduce the impact of prevention efforts. We also will:
  • provide information about useful and effective prevention resources.
  • maintain full text fact sheets on specific drugs and other important topics.
  • publish the MPRC Catalog so that clients can review resources online.
  • maintain a data base of prevention coalitions operating in Minnesota as part of the Minnesota Star of the North Prevention Coalition.
  • identify links to other sites that will provide additional information and resources.
  • do all that we can to maintain the high quality standards that our customers have come to expect from any of our products and materials.

  • The WWW provides us all with a new way to communicate important information quickly to large numbers of interested and concerned persons. We welcome your comments, feedback, and suggestions as we move forward into the digital information age.

Please send me e-mail anytime to share your thoughts and ideas.

    Your friend in cyberspace,

    Jean Funk, Director
