Onward To The Internet!
Minnesota Institute of Public Health Unveils Prevention-Based Web Site

The Minnesota Institute of Public Health (MIPH), the Minnesota Prevention Resource Center (MPRC), and the Star of the North Coalition officially entered cyberspace on October 1, 1996. Our new home on the World Wide Web includes information on alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, compulsive gambling and various health-related issues. Organized by topic, the site includes fact sheets, newsletters, catalogs of materials, legislative updates and links to other pertinent web sites. A calendar of prevention and health events around Minnesota has been included.

The site, designed to help parents, teachers, community leaders and others get access to current information, was created in collaboration with the Minnesota Star of the North Prevention Coalition, the Minnesota Prevention Resource Center and the Minnesota Compulsive Gambling Problems Resource Center.

"We are thrilled that the site is operational," said Jerry Jaker, president of MIPH. "The site allows us to get state-of-the-art information and resources to more people throughout Minnesota at any time of the day or night."

The web site was showcased to an enthusiastic audience at the 22nd Annual Program Sharing Conference in St. Cloud, MN on October 2-3, 1996. Tips and strategies for using the Internet were also featured in the presentation.
