Program Sharing 2008 Call for Presentations

34th Annual Program Sharing Conference October 1-2, 2008

Program Sharing is a statewide conference for sharing evidence-based prevention practices, strategies and information on successful programs and approaches to prevent the problems associated with alcohol, tobacco, other drugs (ATOD) and related violence.

Call for Presentations

This year we will select one-hour presentations that meet evidence-based prevention principles in the domains of: planning and evaluation, education and skill development, community organization, public and organizational policy and professional growth and responsibility. Presentations likely to be selected are those that are practical, relevant and/or innovative, thoroughly grounded in theory, best practices and evaluation, and can be replicated.

Presentations that are practical, relevant and/or innovative for conference attendees, and that are thoroughly grounded in theory, best practices and evaluation, and can be replicated will be most likely to be selected.

Proposals will be evaluated based on:

This year's planning committee seeks evidenced-based programs and strategies that target one or a combination of the following audiences:

Topics may include but are not limited to:

  • Classroom strategies/curricula
  • Student focused/led programs
  • Parenting/family programs
  • Community collaboration/partnerships
  • Faith community efforts
  • Media/public awareness efforts
  • Environmentally focused or population based efforts
  • Mentoring programs
  • Youth involvement efforts
  • Evaluation
  • Asset building/youth development
  • Restorative justice programs
  • Law enforcement as partners
  • Culturally specific prevention programs
  • Technology and prevention
  • Mental health
  • Chemical health
  • Grant writing/funding
  • Legislative efforts
  • Drug specific information
  • Violence prevention initiatives
  • Coalition building
  • Sober schools
  • Post-secondary efforts

  • Student assistance

Instructions for Prospective Presenters

  1. Read and complete the entire application. Presentation length is one hour.
  2. Using the text box on the application, describe your presentation, in 75 words or less, for use in the conference brochure. (MPRC reserves the right to reword and/or reduce your description.)
  3. Using the alloted space on the application, include a two to three sentence biographical sketch of each presenter.
  4. Complete your proposal application online and submit via the website(www.emprc.org) to MPRC by March 14, 2008
  5. By clicking "submit" you agree to be responsible for your registration and those of your co-presenters (see cost information below). Your conference registration(s) and payment are due by September 19, 2008.
