Dear Colleagues, Usually with opportunity comes challenge. Minnesota has two incredible opportunities; the tobacco settlement and the State Incentive Grant (SIG) awarded recently by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention. There are many challenges facing us as we all work toward a new day in tobacco prevention and control in our state and begin our work with the SIG. This issue of Impact! outlines the tobacco challenges very well and Al Fredrickson's From the State piece presents the challenges for the SIG. Let's celebrate these opportunities, meet the challenges, and work together to produce the best outcomes for the state and all of its people. |

CORRECTION...
The January 1998 issue of Impact! incorrectly reported on the City of Hopkins/Hopkins Police Department's mini-grant. The information should have read: Hopkins Police Department / City of Hopkins - Police and Chemical Health Commission will conduct compliance checks with youth and adult involvement; statistical results will be publicized to City Council, School district and general public. - $1,580. We apologize for the error.
