Meth in popular culture

A grim indicator of meth's prevalence, one of 1997's most popular songs was Semi-Charmed Life, by Third Eye Blind. As one band member explains, the song is a glimpse at the life of "some folks Stephan knew from the San Francisco area who got into speed addiction."2 Semi-Charmed Life is described by one reviewer as "...an infectious chorus of 'Doo-doo-doo, Doo-doot- doot-doo' and not-so-cheery lyrics about a crystal meth addicted ex-girlfriend..."3
